The brief
Dr. Amreen consults at Caspian Healthcare. She had a site, of a sort: a build sitting on a temporary hosting address, with photographs shipped at full camera resolution. The home page weighed 20.5 MB and took about eighteen seconds to finish on a normal phone connection, which is longer than a worried parent will wait. The contact form looked real and worked like a bin: every message a parent typed was discarded on submit.
The brief was a proper practice site on a domain of her own, fast enough for a phone, and honest about what the clinic does and does not do.
What we built
- Eleven pages on babydocamreen.com, covering her qualifications, what she treats, how a consultation works, and how to reach the clinic
- A Parent's Corner of plain English guides on newborn care, feeding, immunisation, milestones and common childhood illness
- Red flag panels that send a genuine emergency to a hospital with a children's emergency department, because the clinic runs neither an emergency nor a children's ward, and a website should not blur that
- An enquiry form that actually stores what a parent writes, with a passcode protected inbox she opens herself
- Her book, Dear Mama: The Fourth Trimester, on the home page with a link to buy it
- A static page shell built for every route, so link previews on WhatsApp and search engine crawlers get the right title, description and image without running any JavaScript
- Physician and Book structured data, a real 404, a sitemap, and a pass for contrast, focus states and keyboard use
How it runs now
The home page went from 20.5 MB in dozens of requests to 171 KB in six, and from about eighteen seconds to about three and a half. The domain is in her own registrar account and points at hosting held for her. The code lives in a repository she owns, and every change deploys in about a minute.
The part worth repeating is the form. A contact form that silently drops messages is worse than having no form at all, because the parent believes they have been in touch and the clinic never knows. It is the first thing we test on any site we are handed.
