The brief
It started with an audit. His old site was two pages built in 2023. It named a hospital he had since left, gave an old clinic address, and its wording no longer matched what the medical council expects of a doctor's site. We sent him the list of problems. His reply was short: fix it.
His rules were simple. Print his title exactly as he states it: Surgical Gastroenterologist. Make no claims of being the best. Name no patients. Every clinical line had to be approved by him before it went live, and it was.
What we built
- A home page that starts from what the patient feels, such as pain under the right ribs after an oily meal, and leads to the right surgery page
- Five surgery pages, for gallbladder stones, hernia, piles, fissure and fistula, weight loss surgery and cancer surgery, each with a drawn illustration and a key that explains every part of it
- A recovery ruler on every surgery page: one line from the tests before surgery to the follow-up visit, so patients know how long they will stay and when they can work again
- Five printable after-surgery care sheets, with warning signs at the top, blanks to fill in at discharge, a picture guide for families who read little English, and a medicines table
- A referral page for doctors, where one tap opens WhatsApp with a short referral form already written
- A clinics page for his hospital and his evening clinic, with timings and maps
- Search set up from day one: structured data for the doctor and the clinic, a sitemap, a share image, and redirects so the old addresses still land on the right page
The part that took the most care
The care sheets. A family at home after surgery needs to know three things fast: what is normal, what needs a phone call, and what needs an emergency department. We put the warning signs at the very top, wrote everything in short plain sentences with Indian food examples, and added simple drawings with a caption under each, so the sheet works even for someone who reads little English. Each sheet prints on two A4 pages, and the website menus disappear when it is printed.
How it runs now
The site has its own repository and builds itself from one script. Every fact, such as the phone number, a timing or a clinic address, lives in one place. Changing it once updates every page and every printed sheet.
